Syrena was founded in 1957 bij Mr. Marian Jakubowski. The majority of the group's members descends from the Polish community of the eastern mine region in the southern part of Limburg (NL). The choreographers of Syrena have been trained in Poland, thus ensuring the quality of the performances. Thanks to this expert leadership and the frequent training-visits to Poland, which the entire group attends, their presentation has been brought up to a high level of quality. The number of awards Syrena has received over the years, both in the Netherlands and abroad, are the tangible proof of this excellence.
